Off-Leash Park
The Off Leash Working Committee (OLWC) is working on the number one choice from the final recommendation report -- Foster Woods.
Members of the OLWC have been meeting with the Kleinburg Area Ratepayers Association (KARA) and one of its subcommittees over the last few months. Initially, the OLWC prepared and submitted a background document reviewing the selection process to date and the list of sites from the final report. A presentation was made to the KARA board in January 2008 and there was a follow-up meeting the next week at the Foster Woods site.
Some members of the KARA board and the OLWC walked around the proposed off-leash site and discussed fencing, the entrance area and landscaping. The OLWC also provided the KARA board with photographs of a successful off-leash park in a conservation area.
KARA board members and the OLWC are conducting an informal survey of the pet owners of Kleinburg to determine if they would support an off-leash park. Residents of Kleinburg are encouraged to contact their ward councillor, Peter Meffe, other members of Council and the KARA board to voice their thoughts about the proposed site if they have not had a chance to respond to the survey.
Below is a map outlining the locations of each of the seven sites which were selected as potential locations for the park.

The background information has also been provided to the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority for their review and comment.
